Radio: LNWH

History/Background: Late Night Woman's Hour is a spin-off from the long-running BBC Radio 4 daily magazine programme, Woman's Hour. It began broadcasting in 2015 on a limited basis but was so popular that it began to be a monthly basis until 2018 where it became a weekly podcast and is hosted by Emma Barnett (occasionally with founder Lauren Laverne) and features other female guests.

Themes/subjects covered: the subjects covered on the podcast are relevant to its female audience and used to be originally broadcasted at 11 pm which meant explicit conversations could be had but since it became a weekly podcast the show has become less explicit and controversial

Radio: BBC and Radio

Traditional and DAB: FM/AM services are still available in the UK. Some regional stations are now available nationally thanks to DAB which is Digital Audio Broadcasting. It is a digital radio service which is broadcast from a UK wide network of transmitters and increases their potential audience.

Podcasting: popularised by the advent of the iPod era, they are episodic shows similar to how radio is broadcast and could be linked already existing radio shows, or standalone broadcasts

Broadcasting is always live and can never be edited before it is released to the public but podcasts can be because they are usually always pre recorded and so can be edited before it is released. Another difference between Broadcasting and Podcasts is that broadcast usually a mass audience appeal for example BBC Radio 4 which broadcasts a wide variety of spoken-word programmes including news, drama, comedy, science and history thus appealing to a much older and higher class audiences where as Podcasts are niche and appeal to a specific audience for example Jacob Hawley: On Drugs is a very niche and specific idea thus appealing to a niche audience.

Commercial radio is different to Public Service Radio as commercial radio is primarily based on the practice of airing advertisements for monetary gain whereas public broadcasting which receives government subsidies have no advertisements interrupting the show.

the BBC is funded by the British public and its purpose is to inform, educate and entertain their audiences, their vision is to be the most creative organisation in the world as they have many different genes of radio, television shows and news to create this vision. The values which the BBC follows is true which is the foundation of the BBC they are independent, impartial and honest, the audience is at the heart of everything they do, they take pride in delivering quality content and value for the money which the Public pays to fund them, they celebrate diversity in their company and respect each other so everyone can do their best.
